Being a freelancer is hard, guys. People see fun activities but don't see the constant pitches sent to both outlets & PR - wait for a response that could be rejected, so you pitch somewhere else until it does. If accepted, you need to write it. Then, we do it all over again.
The waiting is the hardest. Some editors don't respond to you at all, esp if you're cold-pitching for the first time. I've been lucky to get some and appreciate when editors are prompt, even with rejections. At least, it's an answer.
@lsirikul They also don’t see the continual wrangling and rejection we do with studio and personal publicists either - which is like pushing a rock up a mountain - each and every time. It’s the gatekeeping in this aspect that kills our spirits.
@lsirikul Not just PR, even getting a feature published is such a hassle. Especially when the answer is no and you still have to thank them for answering your email
@lsirikul I think about this hourly 😫😫😫
@lsirikul At least in the 90s/2000s, folks returned calls and emails with a yes or no-not for me. Nowadays that NY-NO of not getting any response makes for interesting relationship building....
