@davidjwiner It took us maybe a couple person-days, but admittedly @gradle doesn't have a lot of native code. Most of the work was to set up the infra, code changes were minimal. If the new architecture brings the power promised to developers, it seems well worth the investment.

@jonnyzzz There are features in @gradle that require native integration, like the rich terminal and the newly introduced file system watching. These will work on M1 Macs in 7.0.

@r_adiit In Gradle 6.5 those system properties won't work, but you can use proper command-line options: --watch-fs and --configuration-cache. The features are experimental at this point.

In Spring Boot 2.3, we migrated the build from Maven to Gradle. If you're interested in why and how we made the change, I've just published a blog post with some of the details: spring.io/blog/2020/06/0…. On average CI builds are now 3x-4x faster and local builds 20x-30x faster.

@schultzdustin @ankinson @springboot @gradle Primarily the build speed. The caching is really good and we now can build more in parallel. I guess we should write a blog about it.

We (well mostly @ankinson) migrated the @springboot build to Grade and I must say the @gradle team have been tremendously helpful and supportive. Gradle Enterprise is also a really really nice product.
