If you love Jesus you should love what Jesus loves, and that ultimately means you should be an official, active, and serving member of your local church (Eph. 5:25). Church membership should be normal for Christians. Lives lived in regular accountability demonstrate the gospel’s reality to the world, particularly through the mutual love that Jesus identified as the mark of his followers. This is both biblical and strengthens evangelistic witness. Weaker and newer Christians gain feeding and accountability through membership, and mature and seasoned believers demonstrate authentic Christian living. Hebrews calls believers to “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works,” explicitly warning against forsaking assembly “as the manner of some is” (Heb. 10:24–25). This suggests participation isn’t optional but essential to spiritual health. Church membership preserves biblical truth by establishing who bears responsibility for rooting out false teaching and protecting the gospel when leadership itself becomes compromised. Paul’s letter to the Galatians exemplifies this. I say this as a positional elder in my church — Paul appealed to the whole congregation rather than leadership alone to address doctrinal corruption. Think about it: how are you to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal 6:2), which positions mutual care as a central Christian obligation, if you’re not actively in a membership role? Thessalonians similarly exhorts believers to “encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess 5:11), framing encouragement as a reciprocal responsibility that requires presence and investment. Healthy membership equips believers to recognize heresy when taught or communicated and transforms them from passive consumers into active defenders of the faith. Acts depicts the early church persevering in apostolic teaching, communion, and gathering daily, with believers holding possessions in common (Acts 2:42–47), a portrait of intensive communal engagement rather than individual isolated devotion or nominal affiliation. Ultimately, practicing membership glorifies God as Christians gather to form his body, living under the life giving words of scripture, fellowshipping with one another sacrificially, and reflecting his character.

Always be thankful for the bad things in life. They open your eyes to see the good things you weren't paying attention to before.

You know what shook me when I was Muslim? The story of Hosea. God tells a prophet to marry a woman He knows will betray him. She does. She runs to other men. She ends up enslaved, sold, used up, worthless to the world. And God tells Hosea to go BUY HER BACK. To pay money for his own wife who cheated on him, and love her again. Hosea 3. I thought it was the most humiliating command in the Bible. Why would any man do that? Then I realized I was the wife. I gave my heart to everything but God. I chased other masters. I sold myself cheap. I made myself worthless. And God looked at me, the betrayer, and didn’t say “you’re not worth it.” He said, “Name the price. I’m buying her back.” That’s the Gospel. God doesn’t wait for the unfaithful to come crawling back clean. He pays to redeem them while they’re still dirty. Islam told me to make myself worthy of God. Hosea showed me a God who pays to redeem the unworthy. The cross was Him naming the price. Praise the Lord.

Maturity is when you keep your mouth shut when you want to say something mean to someone. Only people at peace with themselves can do this.

One word at the right time can change a person’s trajectory forever. A person is born and wishes to become great. The training for this is long and costly. To learn forgiveness we experience betrayal. To learn perseverance we become exhausted but carry on regardless of how we feel. To learn WISDOM, impossible choices are thrust upon us and we make the wrong ones. To learn timing, we watch great seasons end and hard seasons carry on for too long. And right before this person chooses to quit, your paths cross. Maybe only for a moment… You walk by them at a store or see them waiting at the airport. And if you cannot slow down you will miss the moment. A smile at the right time or a compliment when they didn’t know they needed it can become life or death for their destiny.
