The first time I innocently allowed myself to relish in pure, unadulterated joy, it ended up being taken away from me without warning. To this day, I haven't experienced anything more excruciating. It completely changed how I operated. I became more tense. There was more friction. Whenever I'd get excited again, I'd suppress the urge to embrace it, just so I could shield myself from the memory of another emotional beating. I wasn't conscious of it at the time, but it was utter self-sabotage. Objective cowardice. You think you're protecting yourself by eliminating the possibility of pain, but you're really hurting yourself even more by killing your capacity to truly live. Optimize for defense, you're practically dead. You must allow yourself to fully and unabashedly surrender to the feeling, and just wholeheartedly take the cocktail of hits. Life itself is risk. Might as well come out of it with a story to tell.

Honestly EDM scene cooler than "underground" scene. They be vibing and having fun shuffling at the festivals accepting everyone on some true PLUR meanwhile underground heads be having 10,000 rules at the door in some musty ass basement in Brooklyn or some shit.

Life is perceived through the lens of your insecurities. Say you start a business, but you lack confidence. Someone asks you, "Are you sure it's going to work?" You immediately get defensive and see it as threatening. Let's say you believed in yourself. Same situation. Now, you interpret it as just an innocent remark driven by curiosity. You respond with objectivity, excitement even. "I feel really good about it," or "I think so, but I have this one issue," and then you share your thoughts. It's the same exact question, but the future outcomes shape out incredibly differently. In the first scenario, nothing comes out of it. You retreat back into your sad little head. In the second scenario, that conversation could've led to a myriad of opportunities. "Wow, I think I can connect you with someone who could help," after you answer their question. "I actually have a great idea for you," after they hear your plan. Imagine all the interactions that could've cascaded into a completely different reality for you. Did they really make you feel this or that way, or are was it on you to take responsibility for your own interpretations? Events are objective and uncontrollable, but your assumptions are subjective and controllable. The same things you see negatively, are the same things another person sees positively. Get your internal world in order, and your external world will reflect it right back.
