It's hard for me to stomach all the Joe Lieberman "he was such a mensch" blather for 3 big reasons: --he singlehandedly held Obamacare hostage, succeeding in eliminating a public option, thereby making insurance cos very happy and enriching himself through his healthcare lobbyist wife, through denying millions of Americans better health care options 1/ theguardian.com/world/2009/dec…
--he was a Middle East war hawk, supporting the Iraq War boondoggle, squandering millions of lives and billions of taxpayer dollars. --he helped lead No Labels, the outfit trying to launch a 3rd party presidential ticket, widely believed to help reelect Trump. 2/
Lieberman may have been a lovely man in person, but he harmed many in his wake, and may still cause much greater harm in the form of No Labels enabling a second Trump term. Hopefully the NL organization dies with him. /3
PS As someone who struggled for many years being uninsurable for a pre-existing condition, I hated this man with a passion for watering down healthcare reform.
@lawindsor Your thread is everybody's favorite! #TopUnroll threadreaderapp.com/thread/1773115… 🙏🏼@21law for 🥇unroll
he's also on, was on, until his passing a board member of @jaredkushner Abraham Accords foundation along with other election deniers from the heritage foundation and the Arab kingdoms also want Trump to win, including Qatar, UAE & Saudi Arabia.. Nina Turner is also a lobbyist for Qatar & she's behind the uncommitted campaign with @_waleedshahid - all right wingers trying to get Trump elected. Waleed said he was voting for @CornelWest days after 10/7.. why would they want to weaken Biden? to get paid.
@lawindsor He’s now DEAD so why don’t you talk about someone else’s politics who is still here?
@lawindsor Someone on NBC was talking about how he truly cared about people and I was having trouble squaring that with his killing the public option. And No Labels. Ugh.
@lawindsor @zeebap2 Whew. Thats a word. 🫶🏼🩷
@lawindsor Thank you Lauren. I wish no ill but only peace to his grieving family. Leiberman was not so benevolent as he is being made out to be. I'm still angry that I supported him 24 years ago!
@lawindsor I immediately thought about NL as they were listing his many virtues. 🤨
