Bernie isn’t even a registered Democrat and was constantly fighting with Democrats during his days in Vermont local politics. Of course he doesn’t care about the Dems, lol. He’s a total ideologue, he cares FAR more about getting people with HIS views elected than about getting D’s elected over R’s. And for as much as people like comparing Bernie to Trump, that’s one VERY under-discussed difference between them. Trump is very much NOT an ideologue. Yes he’s obsessed with “loyalty” and that often leads to him endorsing shitty candidates, but his core values are decently flexible and he’s willing to amend them when necessary for the sake of political expediency. It’s why the GOP’s future post-Trump is uncertain. Bernie, on the other hand, is completely, 100% unwilling to budge even a centimeter on the issues he feels passionately about. And his protégées are the exact same way.

Two things can be true: 1) Unprofessional behavior/trolling doesn't belong in serious political group chats, especially knowing the nature of politics. Moles do exist; act accordingly. If being edgy is all you care about, go be a comedian. 2) Moralphagging to please people who want your head on a stick is more of a liability to this movement than anything some edgelord has ever said in a group chat. Rushing to disavow as the knee-jerk reaction is not going to solve any problems--literally nobody is even asking you to. I'm not saying be as morally devoid as the left. I'm not saying to condone or defend what was said. What I am saying, though, is to simply recognize what time it is, and what we're up against. And stop playing into their hands regarding the false equivalencies. We won't win unless we do.
