Babysitting is not a “low skill” job It is devalued because it is female dominated, despite having the highest stakes possible (keeping your baby safe) Childcare is a heavily physical, intense job rife with injuries and frustration. Takes a *lot* of skill to do that well.

i’m trying to find a part time babysitter in july and a ppl keep telling me their rate is $30/hr. this seems high to me? babysitting one kid for a few hours is a low skill and pretty chill job. it’s equivalent in skill to being a fast food employee, which pays $20/hr.
