NAACP to Democratic senators: "Let's be honest, every voter suppression bill passed in the 19 states across the country has been passed by Republicans alone. If one party can dismantle our democracy on its own, the other party should muster the courage to safeguard it."
@kylegriffin1 Why isn't the NAACP asking all decent Americans to economically boycott the 19 states that passed these voter suppression bills? I guarantee you tens of millions of Americans across the country would be happy to do so including myself.
@kylegriffin1 OK. If anyone or any organization has the answer as to what to do about Manchin and Sinema, please tell us.
@kylegriffin1 That’s the speech that needs to be made on the Senate floor. Make it clear to Sinema and Manchin that R opposition to voting rights isn’t an accident. It’s part of a nationwide effort being supported by every single R in the Senate…and the two of them.
@kylegriffin1 This has been my thought every time I hear a GOP senator talk about Dems going it alone and not negotiating. None of the GOP led states negotiated nor had any Dem support.
@kylegriffin1 That is true. if and only if, the Democratic Party has a Majority. There is not a legitimate Democratic Majority at this time. Quit going down the wrong road, as the only one possible is to work harder than ever to obtain a legitimate Majority.
@kylegriffin1 One party isn't dismantling our democracy. Time to acknowledge that @kyrstensinema and @Sen_JoeManchin are providing federal level support to sustain the unilaterally Republican state level actions. Apparently, this is what they mean by "bipartisanship."
@kylegriffin1 It’s easy to destroy things. It’s hard to build and maintain things. The agents of entropy have the clear advantage.
@kylegriffin1 Which is what I have been screaming into the Twitterverse: if 1 of the only 2 parties in power is complicit in undermining our constitutional order, then the solution is, by necessity, partisan.
@kylegriffin1 They need to make it clear to Senators Sinema and Manchin that future support is contingent on them helping to get the voting rights bills passed. It's not "Democratic senators", it's those 2 Senators.
