Today is Daylight Savings, and once again we all lost an hour of sleep. No one likes it. Changing the time twice a year is just stupid. So why isn’t it gone? I’ll explain: - Last year the US Senate voted to pass the bipartisan “Sunshine Protection Act,” to make Daylight saving time the permanent time in the US. - When it was time to vote on it in the House, to move it to Biden’s desk, the House could not agree on whether we to make Daylight Saving time the actual time or Standard time the actual time. - This led to the bill never being voted on in the House. - On March 2 of this year the Senate reintroduced the bill. Let’s hope it passes into law this time!
@krassenstein I prefer standard time and so does most of the world. So no to dst. I am not fond of waking children in the dark to get them to school.
@krassenstein We could ask actual scientists and doctors what they think? You know experts on the subject. Get an overall consensus. What’s best for humans, animals, energy and our health.
@krassenstein Brian, no! Year-round STANDARD time! I lived through the year-round DST experiment in 1974. That January in Detroit, I went to school in the inky black of night. The sun didn't rise until 2nd period. Kids were hit by cars walking to bus stops in the dark. No!!!!!
@krassenstein I'll give you credit. This is a decent talking point. Daylight savings was created back in the day when there was no electricity to save on candles. There's no need in it now, and it's annoying. I agree. Do away with it.
@krassenstein Experts have said DST year round goes against your body’s natural rhythm. So let’s stick to Stand time and be done with this nonsense. This switch messes my body up for a week. Also if we stay on DST, the sun won’t rise in the NE until after 9:00am. No thank you!
@krassenstein I know this is a novel concept, but why not let the States decide? We allow Arizona to stay on Mountain Standard Time, so why not let states choose DST if they want? States like Tennessee could decide to use ST in the East & DST in the West, making time uniform across the state.
@krassenstein Why don't we ask Boebert and Greene for their opinion, and then do the logical thing, the opposite
I don’t know why you’re always in my timeline—I vehemently disagree with almost everything you say. But this I can agree with you on. Being on the eastern edge of a time zone, I’d prefer dst since it would get light out at 4:30 am in June otherwise. More light at the end of the day would be nicer. It’s going to be dark and sucky no matter what in the winter, so let’s give a sliver of light as people leave work.
@krassenstein The republicans wanted to wait until we spring forward again so we get one less hour of the Greatest President of all time Biden.
