Only believing abuse allegations if there’s a conviction in a court of law means you don’t believe victims, period. More than 90 out of 100 victims will never be affirmed in court. Putting your faith in the court system is tacitly upholding the status quo against survivors.
I’m tired of seeing people in my replies say they need a court victory to believe someone is abusive. Instant block if you uphold abusive systems
@kattenbarge I wish they could say that to Nicole Brown Simpson’s face, but they can’t.
@kattenbarge I understand this argument because I have been that victim that could not handle court because I was young and scared and this was back when they had no victims rights laws. I have also known Amber Heard's of the world. So how do we solve for that?
@kattenbarge @punishedmother True, this is a tricky one. Do we just Believe All Women, do we need witnesses, multiple accusations, confessions, what?
@kattenbarge Following in from that, focussing resources on strengthening /widening criminal laws miss the mark for victim focussed solutions . They can be counterproductive & act to confirm women as liars
