This recent headline from the New York Times exposes a big problem in our housing policy. Housing is the largest expense for most Americans. The federal government should be taking a leadership role.
@katieporteroc So Katie Porter approves letting millions of illegals into the country. Then complains when they are driving up your rental costs so you can't afford to live in CA anymore. Getting it now....
@katieporteroc I put a lot of the blame on those companies that are buying up houses like crazy, advertising they'll buy your house for cash, any condition, in a few days. They're just pouring them into the rental market and squeezing out buyers. This should be illegal!!!!!
@katieporteroc After the 2008 crash, was anything done to address the large corporate real estate companies relentlessly buying up properties only to evict tenants to "renovate", then drive up rent astronomically?
@katieporteroc The federal government caused it. You’re asking the arsonist to put out the fire.
@katieporteroc Leaving the issue to localities is how we go into this mess.
@katieporteroc I want a yacht. Should the government support that also?
@katieporteroc Federal government is the reason housing is unaffordable.
@katieporteroc clean up the conflict of interest with the real estate developers and corporate landlords and the city states and 501cs and all the dark money and international “private sector lobbyists controlling and buying up the market. Call a special rapporteur its a crime against humanity
