When you tell families that school is non-essential, they believe you. Also, unsurprisingly, poorest hardest hit, just like Randi likes it. [It will never not be funny that the NYT is discovering what the rest of us were saying on Twitter 3 years ago.]
@karol At our school, all students have a 100% attendance rate. Plus, our 12 year old is Valedictorian and our 10 year old is Salutatorian. Plus, the teacher is gorgeous. Yeah, we homeschool.
@karol They willfully ignored it because their readers, ironically, can’t handle the truth. 😂
@karol I sort of love the fact that schools get paid by the number of students who show up each day. I hope it doesn’t affect their graduation rates, oh never mind it won’t, everyone gets a trophy.
@karol In GA - when elementary opened up - 1 week before the elementary school we feed into had a 95% response. High net worth area. Friend who teaches in a non - high net worth area - 1 week before - she only had a 25% response for her students. Unfortunately- not surprised.
@karol @nycexpatmom So NYTs to not interview parents. It’s 9:14 and I’m still trying to get my chronically late child to school. She got the takeaway message from Covid lockdowns. The only reason she’s not absent regularly is that she’s still small enough that I can physically drag her to school.
@karol @GrizzlyJoeShow If a child can’t read by the 4th grade… the child will be disruptive in school forever.
@karol If my kids are keeping their grades up we have zero issue pulling them out for vacations. We used to be hesitant but no longer, if they didn't care about the importance of in-person school then neither do we.
