Officials are rightly focused on search and rescue operations. But looming is that the Key Bridge collapse likely to shut down the Port of Baltimore in a blow to region, @pwoodreporter reports thebaltimorebanner.com/community/tran…
@justin_fenton @pwoodreporter Prayers for everyone involved. Going with foul play on this 1…..timing too convenient
@justin_fenton @pwoodreporter They should replace these bridges that could potentially block other ports with tunnels. That’s what they did in Norfolk with the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. They don’t want to block Norfolk naval base, the largest in the world, so they built a series of tunnels.
@justin_fenton @pwoodreporter I live not far from there. Thinking of those that fell and for the results and recovery people
@justin_fenton @pwoodreporter I think Secretary Pete will gather the resources to clean out the channel rapidly. Bigger issue will be transportation for trucks which can't go through tunnels. Hearts out for the construction workers missing 😢
@justin_fenton @brianstelter @pwoodreporter That’s the mouth of the harbor, so it will be shut until they clear the channel. I’m guessing there’s big salvage companies on the East coast and Europe who can handle this, but could be months before it’s open. That’s really bad. The U.S. Navy may also have capabilities in Va.
@justin_fenton @pwoodreporter That was on purpose, Investigate immediately.
@justin_fenton @pwoodreporter Woke up to this horrific news, hoping there is minimal loss of life. Have to tell you, as someone who doesn’t do well on bridges like the Key Bridge, this is a waking nightmare.
