It’s okay for medical students & doctors to experience mental illness, *including* psychosis & still recover & practice medicine We *can* be thriving and safe and capable clinicians, despite going through illness It’s important that doctors are as diverse as patients
@juliaisobela also a mental health break ≠ psychosis
@juliaisobela I agree. Would also like to ask how he assumed psychosis from "mental health issue" given how rare it is and how common other mental health issues are.
@juliaisobela Oh don’t you just love these ridiculous assumptions 🤦🏻♀️ Christ on a bike.
@juliaisobela There is no such thing as "mental illness." Mentation cannot be ill.
@juliaisobela I think it helps them, actually. That’s experience you can’t pick up from a book.
@juliaisobela In theory , sure. In practice, administrators consider this a big red flag. And they will decide if you can practice or not. Doctors are expected to be hard working, submissive, and boring. If you can take orders without question by business people, you'll be fine.
@juliaisobela @autisticdoc It is so critical to have lived experience docs out there! 👏👏👏 Thank you for going back and speaking publicly about it 🥹♥️
