WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT ... The title of "coach" is a privilege. The relationships and opportunities for positive impact should never be taken lightly. John Wooden used to say, "a good coach can change a game but a great coach can change a life."
Not everyone who plays wants to play at the collegiate level. For most, having a great HS career while developing life/people skills, incredible drive & a great work ethic is enough. The kids who use what they learned as part of a team to succeed in life don’t get enough credit!

Maybe it’s just me but it’s crazy to me the infatuation families have nowadays with the word D1. It’s like an obsession. Theres a lot of great levels of basketball. At some point you are what you are. Be happy with that. Your happiness shouldn’t be based on your status.

As an athlete, your mindset is the foundation of your success. Nothing great is accomplished without strong motivation and a positive attitude.
Leaders are Competitors. You cannot lead others on your team if you are not committed, confident, and competing for your team each and every day. And when your best competitors also lead by example and lead out loud, you have something special.
If you can’t commit to working on your game, then your coach can’t commit to playing you during games.
How do you become a better leader? - Lead by example. - Make good decisions. - Have a great attitude. - Maintain high standards. - Cheer for your teammates. - Be the hardest worker on the team. - Lead team in fist bumps and high fives. - Connect ALL your teammates together.
Competitive character is making the choice to consistently do what’s hard over doing what’s easy. There’s really no easy path. It takes what it takes. If you choose to do what’s easy, your only chance for success is just to hope that your opponent is lazier & softer than you are!
