If the government of Japan gave people 1,000,000 yen per child as a lump sum and 50,000 a month until the child finishes high school, would you have (more) kids? If not, would more money help? Or is it not a money issue for you? Feel free to comment.
@john_qjn Everyone relying on the government in order to have kids feels like a really bad idea, not to mention unsustainable in the long run. If it’s for the lowest 20% of incomes in society that’d be nice but it feels like much more are having to rely on government support.
@john_qjn How much cost a child per month? A bigger house, basic bills, food, clothes, education, health, career stagnation Think about cost babysitter and multiple by extra hour need for care of children at home As single woman,I'm happy for not having children and no money will make me have
@john_qjn In our case, my bf and I already fully want kids. Probably such kind of money would help a lot to ensure that we will have kids, but we’d still wait because even with money the timing doesn’t fit. He wants time to expand his work and I want to finish school first.
@john_qjn Free university I can afford kids but nobody can afford schooling.
