Been off social media for over 6 months. Back on IG, but is Twitter/X worth it? I tend to find more discouragement here than those “good words” Proverbs talks about. Got any advice for a better experience on this thing?

Ok, I need to get off twitterX for a bit because my heart is broken over JMACs embarrassing take and I just want to say that not all baptist think that way.
This sort of language and teaching is the result of not being able to distinguish nature and grace.

(And to be clear, I am not implying that medicine cannot be helpful at appropriate times, just that diagnosis does not automatically equal prescription and nothing else etc)
Also, the diagnosis of a condition does not, of itself, necessitate a pharmaceutical treatment path as almost all of those conditions are helped by behavioral intervention, CBT, etc. so it's simply a false dichotomy to posit drugs v. behavioral engagement.
It’s a shame that most celebrity pastors don’t interact with the sheep they are called to Shepherd. There is a big problem when you call a man Pastor, speak very highly of him, share his quotes on SM but you don’t know him.
This is not biblical counseling, this is biblicist counseling. And it’s harmful.

Pastors, let’s remember Augustine’s wisdom and not bring scorn upon our office by talking nonsense on topics we know little to nothing about.

@joethorn Hey Joe. It’s taken work but I’ve managed to curate a really pleasant overall experience here. It’s not a total echo chamber but I’ve managed to build a follow-group that is ecumenically charitable and encouraging. There are some great Baptist, reformed, and other brothers here
