@jemmm85517813 @plav1951 Venus is way hotter than its position in the solar system dictates. The atmospheric pressure is a consequence of the CO2 being in the atmosphere not locked up in carbonate rocks, fossil fuels oceans etc. It’s a feedback loop. More CO2 means hotter means more CO2.

@BGatesIsaPyscho It’s called forward scattering. When you look towards the Sun the light is scattered towards your eyes by water droplets, ice crystals, dust etc. Facing away from the Sun the light is scattered away. It’s why the sky appears whiter or cloudier towards the Sun.

@educatedmammy @chatswithem If you want to save birds ban domestic cats. They kill tens of millions of birds each year compared to wind turbines which maybe kill a few tens of thousands. All deaths are regrettable but need to get perspective.

@ATomalty I assume you have evidence for this claim. It’s a simple experiment you could conduct. Get a shielded thermometer, paint a square of wood black and compare the temperatures when the wood is nearby and when it isn’t.

@OzzyFlowerz @chatswithem You expect it to happen in a few years? We’re trying to prevent a catastrophe in the next few generations. PS visit Happisburgh if you don’t think coastal erosion isn’t a current issue which will get progressively worse as sea level rises.

@Jenny_1884 White eggs are identical to brown eggs. The white hens require less feed, therefore less feed to produce, less energy required etc. White eggs *should* therefore be cheaper. The UK is one of a few countries where brown eggs are more common.

@sea_bouy Temperature is irrelevant. They absorb sunlight regardless of air temperature. They convert around 20% into electricity most of the remainder is released as heat. Hence they get hot. Just like any similar dark surface but less due to the electricity generation.

@gazcon Those numbers are misrepresented. Yes, humans are responsible for 3% of all CO2 emissions but only 50% of those are absorbed in the carbon cycle along with the 97% of natural emissions. The rest accumulates in the atmosphere meaning we are responsible for 100% of the increase.

@chatswithem That’s a 22 degree halo. They are the most common type of halo, you’re likely to see them around 100 days a year if you look out for them. Caused by refraction through hexagonal ice crystals in cirrus cloud.
