BREAKING from @howardmegdal for @SInow: The WNBA fined the New York Liberty $500K—down from $1M—for taking chartered flights last season, against CBA rules. Options floated by the league’s general counsel included possible termination of the franchise si.com/wnba/2022/03/0…
From the Liberty’s alternate governor in a September letter to the league reviewed by SI: “We cannot begin to talk about gender equity until we solve some pressing issues that have put extra burdens on the health and well-being of WNBA players.” si.com/wnba/2022/03/0…
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow Reading the last name of the league's legal counsel 😬
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow These are two that I'm VERY interested in knowing who they are.
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow What a great article. I know first hand how great the Tsais are to their employees and how much they care for everybody that works for them. If the WNBA is going to succeed there needs to be way more owners like them.
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow Yeah I just don’t understand why they would want to “Cancel” the team because of this… what The F….
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow Most teams have the men’s teams as well…. So why can’t the W use the same damn plane as the men? If there is already a plane why can’t they use it? Share the MFker, if n when it conflicts with M’s game then do domestic. Don’t see why this can’t be agreed upon.
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow Didn’t the players vote on the CBA?
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow Guess it’s an even playing field issue, but WNBA should take the $500,000 and put it in a fund for all team flight upgrades
@jmkliegman @howardmegdal @SInow Wow, a modern looking league with primitive infrastructure. I'm with the players a 100%!💯
