In 1944 the Yeshiva of Hartford was 4 years old and growing enough to fill a bus, even though the idea of a Jewish day school was new and a little controversial.

In the early 20thc, Jewish residents of NYC and elsewhere responded to the call to vacation in the CT countryside. The idea of summer vacation was relatively new (for the non-wealthy) but we're glad it caught on!
What an outing! 99 years ago Dr. Morris Cohen organized the Hartford YM/YWHA for a trip to Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton, CT. The dress code seems to have ranged from suits to bathing suits.
