I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again this isn’t just a great time to support writers by showing up to the picket line or canceling ur subscriptions. You can also help writers at various levels by giving them the gift of space to write during the #WritersStrike.

One of the side effects of the strike that I’m choosing to see as a gift which I was saying to another playwright friend recently is that it’s giving us all a chance to be in space with each other again. The loneliness of the last three years has been pronounced. And for emerging
Writers it’s even worse. Before many could start their careers or build up the type of relationships that have been fundamental to my success and growth they were forced into their parents basements or studio apartments in new foreign cities. No writers groups to be applied to.
At the residency I got to see that spark of community build w these five young writers and think just giving some emerging writers or peers a place to meet and a chance to discourse everything from trending topics to their newest piece of writing would be a phenomenal gift.
This work stoppage comes on the back of our most unprecedented one. We don’t know how long we will stop this time but we can make it more productive for the artists who have yet to produce any work to stop Try your hand at starting a residency or something like it.
