For people who have incorrectly questioned my motivation regarding the timing of the reporting on Regina Jackson’s disassociation by ASU and/or interested in having a better idea of reporting mechanics, please know the following: I intentionally avoided including mentions of allegations against Jackson in prior stories about the case. Other reporters did mention her going back to 2022 (not that I take issue with that because everyone has their own info which I am not necessarily privy to). But I wanted to be very cautious, mostly since she’s not bound to NCAA rules in the same way as football staffers. I only learned on Friday when the NCAA media center posted a press release about the ASU case that it agreed to “disassociate an involved booster” for five years. Since it’s an ongoing case, the NCAA did not provide very many specifics that are important to the public’s understanding of the punishments and ramifications. Since then, I’ve worked to learn about and report out as many of the details as possible that were not included in the NCAA press release. Others are undoubtedly doing the same thing. I’ve spoken with more than a dozen people with relevant information to the specifics of the case in the past several days. Today’s story has many newly reported details, quite a few of which were also tweeted about in addition to the reporting on Jackson, which now deals with findings of the case as determined by Committee on Infractions, and not simply allegations. The timing is simply related to the NCAA’s press release and the natural reporting process that flowed from it. If I were a sensationalist, I probably would have written and talked a lot more previously about her involvement in the case. Also, this is going to have absolutely zero impact on where Daniels will be drafted, nor should it *in my opinion* but that has no bearing on a decision about when to publish a story like this.
@ChrisKarpman I'm going to force ASU fans to agree with me. You didn't do anything wrong. Don't apologize for doing your job.
@jasonscheer Nobody is apologizing nor is one warranted other than by the people calling me racist maybe.
@ChrisKarpman Between Greg Moore and this, we need to redefine racist apparently.
@jasonscheer @ChrisKarpman Hey Jason, ASU has the 18th ranked 2025 recruiting class in the country. Where are the kitty cats ranked? Hmm? 🤔
