@Phantom_TheGame @ix0reus It's because you are controlling the player with your hands. You can try to enforce a 1:1 scale but it will still seem slow because your inputs are on a smaller scale.

@goth600 But we can't construct buildings like we used to as recently as 100 years ago because it's "too expensive" and people now work the same or more time to provide food and shelter for themselves instead of a small fraction of what they used to. Something doesn't add up.

it's common to think you're adding variety by procedurally generating events or places, only to realize you've made something one 1d: a parade of recognizable variants. the trick is to design multiple axes of variation which interact in rich and narratively interesting ways.

@lorenschmidt this is why i think linear algebra should be introduced before calculus. the type signature for 'take the derivative of a function at a point': `d : (a -> b) -> a -> (a -o b)` is a higher order function that returns a linear function, e.g. '5' is the linear function (\x -> 5 * x)
