Alan Bird, RIP Everyone at Bohemian FC is devastated to learn of the sad passing of Alan Bird, our long-serving matchday programme editor: bohemians.ie/alan-bird-rip/ A long-standing club volunteer, Alan served as programme editor since 2013, including right up to the end of this season as he courageously battled illness, but sadly passed away on Thursday night in the Mater Hospital, surrounded by his family. Alan’s funeral will take place on Thursday at St Canice’s in Finglas, and we encourage as many of his fellow Bohemians to attend as possible, and also encourage members and supporters to sign the online book of condolences to let Alan’s family know that they are in our thoughts at this sad time.

@philipnolan1 Same age but mine aren’t on the list. My ma discouraged me from following my pals into the two local religiously run secondary schools. She knew. I wasn’t keen either because I knew some teachers were violent and there were others who did‘weird’ stuff. Didn’t everyone know?

@philipnolan1 Me too, but those who fought, fought for the right to vote, not for the obligation to vote. I live in Bulgaria. A turnout as high as 54 percent would be remarkable. There’s a serious threat to democracy underway that I never thought I’d see in my lifetime.

Love this tribute. We played it at the funerals of my aunt and my cousins. Entire family gone before their time. Always makes me emotional.

@shumanskoo I've been going to Hebar matches since 2016 when they were in the South East Third Division. There were tears in my eyes at the end. This is why we love football. Always, anything can happen. I will be devastated is Hebar don't survive this financial crisis.

@JohnOBrennan2 Great post. I’m debating myself whether to leave. It adds nothing to my day, except maybe a bit of anger and anxiety. It’s not reflective of real life in any way, but it still has the dangerous capacity to influence.

@JohnOBrennan2 I’ve been in Dublin three times with my Bulgarian/Irish wife since I left Ireland and each time have experienced the real openness that exists in Ireland. These racists are here, but mostly only on Twitter. However, they are a genuine threat that needs to be taken seriously

@shumanskoo I used to go there last year with the Hebar fans in the bus from Pazardzhik while we were waiting for the Georgi Benkovski to be upgraded. All 30 of us in a stadium that holds over 40,000 😂
