The downfall of Gazprom: 2022 revenue from gas: 3.8% of Russian GDP. 2023 revenue from gas: 2.0% of Russian GDP. When Gazprom cut gas supplies to the EU, it killed the goose that laid the golden eggs. 2022 was a bombastic year, but now Gazprom's gas business is losing money.
PS: The reference to GDP is just to give an impression of the importance of Gazprom for Russia, technically it doesn't make sense to compare revenues with GDP. Total GDP is _not_ the sum of revenues of all businesses...
@jakluge That is Putin's personal piggy bank so he can't be happy. But hey he probably has billions in stolen money stashed away and doesn't really need more money. Meanwhile, Russia babushkas struggle to live with paltry Russian pensions.
@jakluge what effect will ukraine no longer allowing gas transit next year ?
@jakluge @CedricMas Everybody lose, Russia, Europe, Ukraine, China, Putin is bankrupting everyone for absolutely nothing in return.
@jakluge @bneeditor That what happens when a company disses its best customers
@jakluge Haha, good, loving it! The whole sanctions package delivered by the US & also implemented by the EU is amazing They can't use their fossils, and even if, they'll have crippled negative margins & most importantly the supply chain which drives global price, is intact Precision!
@jakluge In addition to that, the fossils, now for oil, stays at refineries which are heavily amortized under the lack of clients, they'll need parts, but there are, None! Also India, a client, who pays them in, crappy local currency I've heard Russia is accepting vegetables as payment
