八田与一在台湾期间，负责了台北下水道、高雄港，乌山头水库的工程。其中，台南乌山头水库是其最主要的工程，当时是亚洲第三大水库，灌溉了台南、嘉义、云林近十万亩良田，台湾稻米产出一度提升300% 但这些大米却不属于台湾人自己，60%以上运回日本大本营，那个时代的台湾人大多以番薯渡日。所以很明显，八田与一兴修水利并非为了台湾人，而是为了日本考虑。他，以及日本，从来没有把台湾人当作自己的子民平等对待。如果不是中国人民在抗战中击败了日本，令其无条件投降，让台湾得以光复的话，至今台湾人种出的大米，依旧不属于台湾人自己。但这些历史，以及我们先辈的苦难，在贫穷落后的台湾南部，已经被洗的少有人记得。唉。。。🥲

I actually agree with part of your point — the last couple of decades have shown poorly managed immigration and integration in many countries. But that’s not the same as saying diversity itself is the problem. Bad policy can produce bad outcomes in anything — housing, healthcare, or immigration. That doesn’t make the underlying idea inherently flawed. The evidence isn’t “diversity always works” or “diversity always fails.” It’s that outcomes depend heavily on how it’s managed — selection, integration, incentives, and shared civic expectations. Rejecting diversity outright is just as simplistic as assuming it works automatically.
