anyone know why we're dropping MREs into Gaza instead of HDRs?
anyone know why we're dropping MREs into Gaza instead of HDRs?
@isaiah_bb taskandpurpose.com/news/us-airdro… I found this article that explained it.
@DecolonizeKant this article doesn't actually answer the question
@isaiah_bb @DecolonizeKant “This was something that we were able to pull from our stocks,” Singh said. “At the time, we needed to get meals there as quickly as we can. I think we’re looking at all options. As you can appreciate: This is the first, initial airdrop"
@isaiah_bb @DecolonizeKant Article implies it was just what they could deploy immediately
@sorkincel @DecolonizeKant having worked in government communications my whole career, I don't consider a press secretary's talking point an answer to a tough question, or the transcription of such real journalism. but yeah, maybe its what they had laying around.
@isaiah_bb @DecolonizeKant Fair it's the reason the pentagon gave idk if it's the real one
@sorkincel @DecolonizeKant Yeah, I mean, there’s one piece of information the spox gave that we know already is false: it’s not true that they dropped food items that conform to the diets of the recipients. None of it is halal certified and lots of it has gelatin and pork products.
@isaiah_bb @DecolonizeKant It's all pretty consistent with the story of Biden admin wanting to look like it's doing something with less of a concern for actually doing something
@isaiah_bb @sorkincel @DecolonizeKant No it doesn't Stop believing shit from nonsense sources
@isaiah_bb @sorkincel @DecolonizeKant It’s not technically Halal, but they did only drop vegetarian MREs which do not include animal gelatins or any meat products. I believe the only reason vegetarian MREs aren’t considered Halal is because they’re prepared in a factory that produces non-halal foods.
