How Supporting a Political Party Became a Death Sentence in Bangladesh --- A mother in Ukhiya lost her life while trying to shield her son from a violent mob after he was targeted over the slogan “Joy Bangla.” Across the country, attacks, mob violence, fake cases, and assaults on families linked to the Awami League are creating a climate of fear and lawlessness. From brutal machete attacks in Sitakunda to killings in Barguna and border ambushes in Netrokona, the pattern is becoming impossible to ignore. Critics warn that Bangladesh is witnessing the dangerous normalization of mob justice, where political rivals are punished outside the legal system and innocent relatives are targeted as proxies. Human rights cannot depend on which party is in power. Violence against political opponents, attacks on families, deaths in custody, and assaults inside court premises represent a serious collapse of rule of law and democratic protections. Silence from the international community will only deepen the cycle of fear, revenge, and political brutality. 👉albd.org/articles/news/… #AwamiLeague #Violence #BNPJamaatViolence

Extrajudicial ban on Awami League indemnified ongoing genocide Hundreds of party activists murdered, killing spree going on, no justice, no right to life for millions Emboldened by state sponsored impunity, a cabal of extremist forces including Jamaat e Islami unleashed a brutal killing spree against citizens merely for their political belief. Yet another anti war crimes campaigner from Awami League’s student wing was murdered and then his body was hung in public in the port city. The corpse of Kawsar Ahmed, liberation war affairs secretary of Chittagong BSL Thana unit, was found hanging from flyover. This savagery offers a stark glimpse into the ongoing wave of almost two year long massacre against citizens affiliated with Awami League and its associate bodies. Introduced by murderous Yunus regime and then passed by incumbent parliament, the extrajudicial ban on Awami League has directly enabled this killing spree as murderers have been indemnified by the state as global rights body remain complicit with their silence. Over 600 activists and leaders were burnt alive, tortured to death, slayed and their mutilated bodies were dumped while whereabouts of thousands are still unknown. #Bangladesh
Rooppur Nuclear Milestone: A Landmark in Bangladesh’s Energy Ambitions Bangladesh has reached a significant moment in its development journey, as uranium fuel has been loaded into the first unit of the #Rooppur #NuclearPower Plant in Pabna. The step formally marks the country’s entry into the group of nations operating nuclear power infrastructure. The project, initiated in 2010, has progressed over more than a decade amid political changes and public debate. Despite challenges, including criticism and scrutiny at home and abroad, the initiative moved forward under the leadership of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Analysts say the continuity of long-term infrastructure planning has been a key factor in reaching this stage. The agreement with Russia, which underpins the project, has been central to Bangladesh’s efforts to diversify its energy sources and strengthen energy security. The plant uses Generation III+ VVER-1200 reactors, a technology regarded as among the more advanced in contemporary nuclear power development. Observers note that implementing such technology reflects both financial commitment and technical coordination on a large scale. The development comes at a time when global energy markets remain volatile, and many countries are reassessing their energy strategies. For Bangladesh, the Rooppur project is seen as part of a broader effort to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and imported energy. Large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Padma Bridge and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, are often cited by policymakers as examples of long-term national planning. Experts point out that such initiatives typically require sustained political commitment and institutional capacity over many years. While challenges remain — particularly in areas such as safety management, cost recovery, and operational readiness — the commissioning of the plant represents a notable step in Bangladesh’s energy sector development. More broadly, Rooppur is viewed as a symbol of the country’s evolving economic and technological ambitions, reflecting a shift toward more complex and capital-intensive projects. Cyber defence at its peak 🛡️ Organised by @ccdcoe, the world’s largest live-fire cyber defence exercise, Locked Shields 2026, brought together 41 nations to practise protecting critical infrastructure and military systems against real-time cyberattacks 🔗 ccdcoe.org/news/2026/lock…
#LockedShields2026 has concluded! This year’s exercise brought together more than 4,000 participants from 41 nations. Congratulations to all 16 Blue Teams! Read more: ccdcoe.org/news/2026/lock…
Today, we were honoured to present an overview of #LockedShields2026 to a number of distinguished visitors, including Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Andrus Merilo; Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal; Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur; and representatives of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Thank you for joining us!
Locked Shields 2026 has kicked off! The exercise brings together more than 4,000 cyber defenders from 41 nations to strengthen the protection of national systems and critical infrastructure against sophisticated cyber threats. Over the course of the next two days, teams must defend a simulated national infrastructure against approximately 8,000 real-time cyberattacks - targeting systems including power grids, 5G networks, satellite and battle management systems.
Since 5 August 2024, journalists and reporters, many of whom worked during the tenure of the Bangladesh Awami League, have been picked up, denied bail, and buried under one case after another, at times escalated to the gravest of charges like murder. These actions are unfolding in the post-government transition period, under the current political order aligned with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP. This is no longer mere pressure; it reflects a pattern. The message to the press is becoming unmistakably clear: scrutiny comes at a cost. What is perhaps even more revealing, however, is how "neutrality" has been selectively constructed within our political culture. Time and again, individuals are presented as apolitical, positioned above partisan divides, only to be quietly rewarded with influence and office when it aligns with the interests of power. In such cases, neutrality appears less a principle and more a strategic posture. Zillur Rahman's wife, Fahmida Haq. Was this truly a reflection of merit and independence, or part of a broader pattern where proximity to power, carefully framed as neutrality, translates into political reward? In the end, the question isn't who is neutral, it's who benefits from being called so. @albd1971 @bdbnp78 @CJBdingo25 #AwamiLeague #bangladesh
Four humans just saw something no one in history ever has. They went to the far side of the Moon, the side we never see, the side that has always existed just beyond our reach… until now. What a win for mankind, for science, and for arts and poetry. Because it's not just four astronauts we sent up there. It's dreamers. Poets. Lovers. People who looked into the unknown and still chose to go. In a world that feels heavy and broken sometimes… this feels different. Pure. Hopeful. And maybe even a win for faith too, in humanity, in curiosity, in something bigger than ourselves. What a time to be alive. #ArtemisII #SpaceExploration #ForMankind #WhatATimeToBeAlive #Dreamers
📣 ENDEX! Locked Shields Partners’ Run 2026 has concluded - marking a critical milestone ahead of Locked Shields, the world’s largest live-fire cyber defence exercise. Serving as the main rehearsal, the exercise brought together 16 Blue Teams, with experts from academia, industry, and defence institutions. Participants trained in the same high-intensity environment that national teams will face in just one month. Beyond strengthening their own capabilities, they played a key role in shaping the upcoming exercise —insights gained here directly translate into an improved exercise environment for the main execution in April.
