I may be wrong, but it feels like we’re entering a new age. An age of multipolar power and increasing conflict. ⚔️ Both within and outside the United States. 🇺🇸 The sort of thing that has historically come after years of prosperity and debt…once the music stops. I’ve been feeling it for a few years. I’ve been talking to my family about it for a few years. Mostly they think I’m overreacting. 🙄 I hope they’re right. But it’s on my mind. How can I protect my family if things go sideways? Some things I’ve done: ➡️ Decent long-term food stash ➡️ Ability to filter lots of water ➡️ Stored, stabilized gasoline ➡️ Rooftop solar ➡️ Diversifying assets into things that do well in crazy times (commodities, gold, etc.) I hate thinking about conflict (both internal and external to the United States). But I’ve read enough history books to know that there’s a nonzero chance things get wild, even if just for a short time. 😬The debt is crazy. 😬The polarization is crazy. 😬The wealth inequality is crazy. 😬The uncertainty is crazy. I may be overthinking it - the old man who warns his grandkids about invisible dangers that never come to pass. But I don’t know. 🤷🏻♂️ And when I don’t know, I’d like to be ready. What do you think❓
@investing_law The 4th Turning is upon us folks ;-)
@investing_law It won’t be a wave of wars like ww2. Its now a few tectonic plates colliding between the West and China/Russia/Iran, but the end will be like 1848 - a wave of revolutions in the West and then peaceful coexistence with the Global South Bookmark this post
@investing_law Our family owns 100+ acres in Central Texas. If things get super bad, Texas will secede and we'll flee there. The oil and Texas National Guard will protect us. Lol.
@investing_law If you look back at history, there was very little peace. More like nonstop pillaging and war and conflict. We have lived in a long long period of relative peace
@investing_law Do you accept refugees? I can maybe bring some mint and potatoes. I’m a good accidental farmer. Husband is 6’5” and can lift heavy things. Hits the golf ball super far and has amazing peripheral vision
