@niubi So this article basically says anyone who isn't overly critical of China isn't fair. Feels like it's trying to push tribalism into China studies, where those who are banned from China hold the truth and thosenwho aren't are China's propagandists. Very anti academic if you ask me.

@HeLiuLeo I hold the opposite belief that the diaspora is often wrongly being given an authoritative voice on China although they haven't set foot in the country for ten years. Not to mean that there is no value to them, but often they get outclassed by experts on most levels.

@HeLiuLeo I generally disagree with this and think it comes from a pov where you're trying to defend your own interests. The average Chinese diaspora doesn't know more about China than the average American knows about their own country. Diaspora or not you need experts.
