It’s really going to be over for y’all when gymnastics becomes a norm for the Black community. 🥹
@gotdamnocles I feel Gymnastics is labeled as feminine so most black boys aren’t encouraged to do it when our community has so much talent. Another factor is affordability and making it more accessible.
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles It’s got more to do with affordability than anything, many of team USA athletes for example had to leave their families and stay with sponsor families to not only afford the training but to even have access to the coaches and facilities…
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles Well there’s also more money in other sports. So super athletic people aren’t going to choose volleyball or gymnastics when they can run track, basketball and football
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles I want my boy to do gymnastics but he’s still on the “it’s for girls” thing. Wish I could do some of the shot they can
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles As a gymnast , this is 100% on point .
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles Dance too! My clients son would be an AMAZING ballerina but dad ain’t having it AT ALL. I watch him practice with his sister and his pointe and long legs are graceful and strong AF. He’s killing it in other sports tho 🦾
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles True & every hood nigga I knew back home could do multiple back flips & shit
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles When the boys on my block use to flip off the porch and land it they was so cool to me. I feel like other men be telling y’all it’s feminine. I never thought it was. That’s just me though.
@iforgotohwait @gotdamnocles That’s true. Most people in our community view it as feminine. I wish I had done it when I was younger
