Fun fact! The first ever generation of games consoles included one built specifically for blind players, the TSI Game Center, from 1977. It had 8 games including an audio version of pong, with ball position communicated through pitch and stereo separation. books.google.co.uk/books?id=wlYCo…
@ianhamilton_ I had seen one of these in the school I attended before I was mainstreamed, even then I was a tech head, I was intrigued.
@ianhamilton_ I remember playing that version of pong while my vision was still OK, but still enjoyed it. Of course, at that time I didn’t realize that was specifically created for blind people, just thought there was no image.
@ianhamilton_ That period, the advent of affordable computer tech, was a crucible of invention in AT. My contrib was a talking stats package on the BBC Micro. Ok, "stats" and "package" are doing a lot of work there, but it included an audible histogram program which was nifty at the time.
