Heidi and Ed Savitt first met as six-year-olds in 1997 while on separate family holidays at a resort in Gumbet, Bodrum, Turkey. During the two-week vacation, they became inseparable childhood friends, played together on the beach, and held hands. After the holiday ended, they lost touch, and Heidi completely forgot about the boy she had met. Fourteen years later, in 2011, they unknowingly crossed paths again as students at Newcastle University. They ended up living in the same student house, started dating, and eventually got engaged in 2015. The incredible truth only came to light during a subsequent family dinner when Heidi's mother remembered her daughter’s childhood "holiday romance" with a boy named Ed. Her mother later found an old family photo album in the attic containing the picture of them together as children. The couple was so stunned by this twist of fate that they even recreated the childhood photo for their wedding invitations before getting married in 2016.

the issue we currently see stems from the assumption that we need to sell something to get the money we need. the absolute state of ai dev tools. grok build is silently dumping 12gb of untouched repo data and full git commit histories to gcp just to autocomplete a script. they don't want to help you build, they are just treating local dev environments like an open buffet for training

A user story is not a code word for specification or a requirement or any description of work. It is not a ticket. It is not a to-do item. It is not something you can build. The fact that the term has been corrupted by the Jira-slinging ticket-money pseudo-Agile Scrummy culture is a real shame, because it's a valuable concept: A "user story" is literally the user's story. It is a description of a problem, not a solution. It is not a specification. It cannot be estimated. It's the topic of conversation that we have with our users/customers to understand their problems and collaboratively develop the smallest, best solution. The story is not the solution—it's the beginning of the conversation you have to arrive at the solution. A story describes our users' work, not ours. The idea is that the best software solves real problems that real people have, and that, by identifying those problems, we can build something that's actually useful. By working on the software one small problem at a time, we guarantee that every release does something useful. People who talk about user stories being dead never understood what they were to begin with. You cannot build software without them.
