Just got here, but glad I made it! A1: We collaborate ALL the time. We have built-in planning meetings weekly with our grade-level teaching team, department meetings biweekly, and K-12 meetings quarterly. I love this system. #sschat

@Howsonhistory I really value these meetings, and the department heads for K-3 and 9-12 came with me to @NCSSNetwork Nashville this year so we could collaborate there, too.
@historyherway @Howsonhistory @NCSSNetwork How do you get your district to buy in? TBH we don't even have an elementary social studies head.
@MrsC_Will @Howsonhistory @NCSSNetwork This meeting came with department head territory when I became our middle-level chair. I'm in independent school, but I don't think that matters.
@historyherway @Howsonhistory @NCSSNetwork Does your district sponsor all three to NCSS? If so, are there expectations when you return with the knowledge? I'm trying to pitch it to our district level admin.
@MrsC_Will @Howsonhistory @NCSSNetwork We can fill out PD professional development grants. This year they sponsored all three of us, but that's not always the case. It depends year to year. The expectation was that we would spend the time together, which we did, and then collaborate again at our next meetings.
@MrsC_Will @Howsonhistory @NCSSNetwork and I just realized I wrote PD and professional development... which are the same. oops.
