THE PEOPLE MUST NOT REPAY ILLEGAL DEBT Kenya’s people cannot be made to repay every loan simply because someone signed a document in the name of the Republic. Before taxpayers are asked to pay, we must ask basic questions: Was the borrowing lawful? Were the constitutional and statutory procedures followed? Where did the money go? What was it used for? What public benefit did it produce? And where #odiousdebt is alleged, we must ask what the lenders knew, or reasonably ought to have known. Public debt is not a blank cheque. After hearing your response on the Homa Bay violence, I totally agree with Gachagua. In fact, I now think that reference is unfair to genuinely childish people, because you are worse. "Once you have been told there are goons waiting for you, why do you still go there?" is the response from the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and the country's security tsar?? I froze when I heard you saying that, and played the clip over and over again to be sure. You are incompetent, foolish, childish, naive and clearly unstable, all at the same time. Do you know why? Because opposition politicians will soon prepare goons to warn your beloved pro-government rallies of dire consequences if they visit certain areas, and we will all expect you to say "once you have been told there are goons there, why do you still go?" You assume goons can only be the government types. You do not know that Haiti started with goons. You haven't internalised the fact that the Rwanda genocide was conducted by Interahamwe goons who slaughtered nearly a million souls in just three months. And to be honest, Kenyans deserve better, if the man in charge of their security can say something as crazy as you have. Do you remember Rachel Wandeto? Well, when you still foolishly thought hers was an attack by DCP guys on your UDA, you and your UDA clowns at Interior were quick to breathe fire on the steps of Harambee House about upcoming action on Gachagua. What's the update on that, by the way? With your statement, you have basically told Kenyans planning rallies across the country that they are on their own as long as those who want to attack them are pro-government. This means that the opposition will make its own security plans and you will return to the steps of Harambee House only when your people are on the losing end. If you are the one we are looking up to ahead of the elections, I am afraid the country is staring at really bad times ahead. No wonder Western powers want you gone from that socket. And by the way, on average, there are usually more opposition goons in the country than pro-government ones at any time in the country's history. You can test this hypothesis by leaving all of us to our own devices. Ruto should urgently rid himself of you!

@SamuelAtandi should understand why young people turn up in large numbers whenever he visits his constituency. Many are jobless, frustrated and desperate for a way forward. They are not simply looking for handouts; they are looking for opportunities , especially stable, permanent and pensionable jobs that can give them dignity, security and a future, just like the other young people who graduated yesterday. Until such opportunities and slots are made available to them, they will continue to show up and ask for whatever assistance they can get, no matter how many times they are lectured against the practice. You cannot lecture young people out of poverty; you have to create pathways out of it.

I think the most painful part about fighting for change is watching people you genuinely believed were part of the movement slowly water it down, shake hands with murderers, laugh with them, sit comfortably around the very oppressors they once condemned, then come back with all sorts of explanations and excuses for why they were there, why it was necessary and why we shouldn’t read too much into it. And you’re left wondering, was any of this ever real, or were some of these people simply well calculated psyops from the very beginning? And then you find yourself asking an even harder question, are the lives we lost not personal to you? Because for some of us, they are. We remember the young people who lost their lives fighting for a better country, the families that had to bury their children, the blood that was spilled, and maybe that’s why it’s so difficult to understand how someone who stood beside you through all of that can suddenly sit comfortably, laugh and shake hands with the very people we were fighting against 🥹 And somewhere along the way, you begin to understand why people like Patrice Lumumba, Dedan Kimathi, Thomas Sankara and so many other African heroes were killed so brutally. It wasn’t always because they didn’t have people around them. Many did. The problem was that some of the very people they believed they were fighting alongside had already sold out long before the fight was over. Perhaps that is one of the hardest truths about fighting for change, eventually you realise that people really do have a price. Politics is indeed a dirty game, and I have a feeling 2027 will expose even more about people’s character. But I really hope the few who genuinely believe in change don’t give up. Is it easy? Absolutely not. But I believe there is something deeply fulfilling about knowing that even if you died today, you never sold out, never shook hands with murderers and never became comfortable with people who have blood on their hands simply because they offered you money, access or power. Does that make you a hero? Absolutely not. It simply means you remained honest about what you stood for. And eventually, when money no longer matters, when power no longer matters and when all the noise has died down, I think being able to live with yourself knowing you never betrayed what you believed in is what will matter most. WANTAM!

A Presidential Candidate Should Be Ready To: 1. Reject the KES 12 trillion odious debt and tell the creditors to deal directly with the thieves. 2. Recover all stolen public money and assets dating back to 1960. 3. Cut ties with the IMF and the World Bank. 4. Expropriate and redistribute land. 5. Arrest and administer revolutionary justice to all thieves and politicians who have held public office since 1960. 6. Nationalize the country's natural resources. 7. Provide free, quality healthcare and education to all Kenyans. 8. Industrialize the country. If your presidential candidate is not ready to do the above, you should abandon that path and join the revolutionary movement.

The question is not whether Kenya may belong to the IMF or the World Bank. The question is whether the Bretton Woods Agreements Act, a statute enacted at independence in 1963 may continue, after the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, to authorise treaty implementation, borrowing, public expenditure, tax exemptions, and institutional immunities in a manner that weakens judicial control of public power, limits access to justice and information, and displaces the constitutional architecture of accountable public finance. While the Act may have served a lawful purpose at the time of its enactment in 1963, its continued operation must now be assessed against the normative framework of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. To the extent that its purpose or effect is inconsistent with the Constitution, the provisions must be read down, adapted, or declared invalid. Accordingly, even if the Act was constitutionally unobjectionable at independence, its continued effect in the post 2010 constitutional order cannot be sustained where it undermines or derogates from constitutional requirements.

PRESS STATEMENT BY SENATOR OKIYA OMTATAH ON THE PUBLIC DEBT CASE RULING Fellow Kenyans, Today, the High Court delivered an important ruling in our public debt case. The Court upheld the @IMFNews claim of diplomatic immunity and struck it out of this petition. While we respect the Court’s decision, accountability for Kenya’s debt burden cannot end there. We are preparing a separate legal challenge to the Bretton Woods Agreements Act, 1963, against the Constitution of Kenya 2010 to ensure all actors involved in Kenya’s debt processes are subjected to proper scrutiny. Most importantly, the Court rejected attempts by the Attorney General and other respondents to have this case dismissed. The judges ruled that our petition will proceed to a full hearing on its merits. The Court also dismissed applications by the former Auditor General, former Controller of Budget, the current Auditor General, and the current Controller of Budget seeking to shield themselves from these proceedings. This is a significant victory for transparency, accountability, and the Kenyan people. We will amend our petition as directed by the Court and return on 22nd July 2026. Our mission remains unchanged: to establish how Kenya accumulated trillions in public debt, how the funds were utilized , whether the public benefited and whether the law was followed at every stage. This case is about protecting the future of our nation and the interests of every Kenyan taxpayer. We remain focused, determined, and committed to seeing it through.
