Tennessee's governor just signed a bill declaring the Bible one of its "official state books." Not just any bible, though. It's the "Aitken Bible," a book with a legacy that has been wildly distorted by Christian pseudo-historian David Barton. friendlyatheist.com/p/tennessee-de…
@hemantmehta Funny this is in Tennessee as well.
@hemantmehta Conservative churches in our area - from LCMS to SBC - are all about Barton's Christian Nationalist pseudo-history. Coupled with that, at least one SBC church in our town hosts TPUSA and TPUSA Faith meetings. We left the organized church years ago and we're not going back.
@hemantmehta No doubt the Koran and Bhagavad Gita are next
@hemantmehta With all the people moving to Tennessee from other states, when is the balance between backward racists and normal people gonna shift? I hope it’s soon.
@hemantmehta Omg, they’re going to get so deep into Christian Nationalism they’ll be burning people at the stake before long. Build that wall between church and state higher please! And make it thicker while we’re at it.
