Some positive news: Haus is back.
I am very glad to see the brand live on, and look forward to seeing what the new owners will do with it in this next chapter.

@ericbahn@helena Thank you for sharing! So much to think about. So much respect. I hope I'm sharing and admitting enough of my mistakes to my kiddos. When I do, it's amazing how they almost immediately love on me more.
Grateful to sit down with @helena last week, to be interviewed in her awesome new series, Founder Things. This was probably the most vulnerable conversations that I've shared publicly. Grateful to hold space for each other. founderthings.substack.com/p/interview-er…
Gratitude tweet dedicated to @helena. I just spent an hour with her, being interviewed by her for Helena's new project. I'm reminded once again what a terrific and talented human she is. Rare to find someone with her combo of rare authenticity and charisma. Appreciate you!
I remember going through the creative process at the same time as @helena and @woodyhambrecht. I was in awe of what they were building and their unique approach. Most important, they're both great people.
Passing the proverbial torch must be very difficult. But they've both…
The best choice I made was becoming a foster parent in my mid 20’s. The first match was Emma, who had just started kindergarten. Today marks 11yrs since adopting her & now she’s a senior in high school. I’m the proudest mom & feel so lucky we ended up together. ♥️🧵
Once I started to rebuild the store, I said to myself, as I always do when trying to do something the easy way "what if the store was way better?? what if it had a bunch of educational content?? what if I had a photoshoot with my bestie @helena and launched 25+ new products??"
📰Some Personal News: @judson and I are building a brand new brand studio. It's called Design Business Company. We’re now open, and seeking clients. Designbusinesscompany.com
100% this!
Also, if someone is looking for a high salary, then a startup isn't the right fit. You want someone incentivized by upside, and you'll never win the salary-war.
The biggest difference in how I’m hiring the second time around:
Indexing heavily on people who really, really want to work at a high growth startup
If a candidate is deciding between us and a comfortable job at a big tech company, it’s already not a fit
Every introvert I know was once closeted as an extrovert to seem more popular or sociable and would go home exhausted and a little sad after being around people

Make sure you know what you're retiring to.
This was a hard post to write.
I almost didn't write it in fact. I've started and trashed this story many times.
But I believe there are important lessons in this story we can learn from.
Warning: this does not have a happy ending.
