Royal Mail has been told to stop fining people for receiving letters that use a counterfeit stamp as "innocent people are being penalised for the mistakes of others." So business as usual at the Post Office
@haveigotnews The Post Office business model before 1840 was payment on receipt. Then they introduced postage stamps but you still have to pay for unstamped mail. I thought the QR code was for track and trace!
@haveigotnews The postman drove all the way down our lane to deliver an election leaflet by the conservative party candidate. I walked 6 paces to file it correctly in the paper recycling bin.
@haveigotnews @RoyalMail and @PostOffice are two different companies, the latter only sells stamps/postage and takes in parcels etc for @RoyalMail . The @PostOffice also does other things besides that.
@haveigotnews I know of someone, old enough to know better, who actually thought Royal Mail was selling off 'old stamps' at discount to 'clear stocks' & was shocked to find it was a scam, as 200 customers contacted him to ask for repayment of the fine they had to pay to receive their orders!
@haveigotnews @PostOffice Surprised they haven’t already organised arrest warrants!
@haveigotnews Nationalise the Post Office and make it free 😶
@haveigotnews You mean, the Royal Mail will deliver mail with fraudulent postage stamps on it, instead of refusing, or returning to sender? Sounds like a them problem.
@haveigotnews But also people are being fined for stamps that AREN'T counterfeit but get damaged in the post. Not clear how I get redress either @RoyalMailHelp
@haveigotnews Yes, well, except Royal Mail has not been anything to do with the Post Office for quite some time.
