April 29, 1991: One of the deadliest tropical cyclones in world history struck Bangladesh. The extremely intense super cyclonic storm ravaged the Chittagong district, sweeping away entire villages and displacing tens of thousands. Over 138,000 people were killed. #wxhistory
April 29, 2022: An outbreak of 22 tornadoes impacted Kansas and Nebraska. A highly visible EF3 drill-bit tore through through Andover, Kansas. Hundreds of homes, businesses, schools, and other structures were damaged or destroyed. Six people were injured. #wxhistory
April 29-30, 2016: An outbreak of 20 tornadoes struck the Southern Plains and Southeast. Four tornadoes in Texas were rated EF2. One tornado near Lindale, TX, reached a massive width of 1.83 miles (sixth-widest tornado of the 21st century). Five people were injured. #wxhistory
April 29, 1963: An outbreak of 22 tornadoes struck the Midwest and Southern US. Sixteen twisters were significant (F2+), the most intense of which was an F4 that scoured asphalt and demolished homes near Shannon, Mississippi. 12 people were killed & 61 were injured. #wxhistory
April 29, 1947: An outbreak of (at least) ten tornadoes impacted the Midwest and South-Central US. A violent F4 (possibly F5 per @sigtor2019) decimated Worth, Missouri. Almost every home and business in the town was damaged or destroyed. 24 people were killed. #wxhistory

April 29-30, 1942: Four significant tornadoes touched down in the Central Plains. An extremely violent F5 struck near Oberlin, KS, wiping away all buildings and several inches of topsoil at three farmsteads. 20 people were killed and 42 were injured. #wxhistory
April 29, 2017: A family of tornadoes impacted areas east of Dallas, Texas. A pair of massive wedge tornadoes, rated EF4 and EF3, came very close to striking Canton. Numerous homes and several businesses were destroyed. Four people were killed and 59 were injured. #wxhistory
April 29-May 1, 1909: A devastating outbreak of (at least) 38 significant tornadoes affected the Midwest and Southern US. Four tornadoes in Missouri, Illinois, and Tennessee were violent and devastating F4s. At least 165 people were killed and ≥706 were injured. #wxhistory
April 28, 1960: Nearly a dozen strong tornadoes impacted central Oklahoma. The OKC metro was battered as an F3 ripped through the southern part of the city and a pair of F2s struck Moore simultaneously. Sadly, 3 people were killed on a farm near Cromwell. #wxhistory
April 28-29, 2014: A massive outbreak of 64 tornadoes slammed the Southeast US. 23 tornadoes were significant (EF2+), the strongest of which was an EF4 that produced extreme damage near Noxapater & Louisville, MS. Fifteen people were killed and 216 were injured. #wxhistory
April 28, 2008: A small but potent outbreak of 16 tornadoes impacted Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. The long significant tornado of the event was a devastating EF3 that ripped through Suffolk, VA. No fatalities occurred, though 221 people were injured. #wxhistory
April 29, 1892: A devastating cyclone struck the island of Mauritius in the southwest Indian Ocean. The storm destroyed countless residences, leaving 50,000 people homeless. ~1200 people were killed, making this cyclone the 4th-deadliest in the Southern Hemisphere. #wxhistory
April 28, 1893: At least four significant (F2+) tornadoes impacted Oklahoma and Texas. Two tornadoes were violent. The worse of the pair devastated Cisco, Texas, damaging or destroying every structure in the town. A train was thrown 200 yards. 29 people were killed. #wxhistory
April 28, 1950: An outbreak of (at least) five tornadoes struck Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Two tornadoes were F4s. At Holdenville, OK, thirty-eight homes were destroyed and 188 were damaged. Near Clyde, TX, several residences were swept away. 11 people were killed. #wxhistory
April 28, 1983: GOES 6, a geostationary weather satellite which was operated by NOAA, was launched aboard a Delta 3914 rocket. The satellite provided weather data for six years before its main imaging instrument failed in 1989. #wxhistory
April 29-30, 1924: A substantial outbreak of (at least) 26 significant tornadoes struck the Southeast. 13 tornadoes were estimated to have been F3 or stronger. A long-lived F4 (likely a tornado family) trekked across central South Carolina. ≥113 people were killed. #wxhistory
