Rally at city hall, feat. @l_melo_h from @cttenantsunion , Sarah of Blake St TU, @KooperCaraway from SEIU, & Sen. Blumenthal & the New Haven delegation. Sen. Winfield was adamant he will be back fighting to #CaptheRent & enact universal good cause eviction protections
This is why we need universal good cause eviction protections & rent stabilization that prohibits landlords from jacking up rent once they finally provide the bare maintenance they were always required to do. #CaptheRent @ConnecticutDSA @cttenantsunion ctpublic.org/news/2023-06-2…
YES! Thank you @Janeese4DC, @BrianneKNadeau, and @CMZParker5 for your leadership on this — record-high inflation shouldn't mean record rent hikes, too. I hope the rest of the Council sides with renters and takes action today to #CapTheRent.

We should do this everywhere…it’s old news but 🌿CAP THE RENT🌿 there’s no reason for landlord’s stealing our meager wages #CaptheRent
Been in my apartment 8 years. Rent is going up 9%. We’re on our 3rd property manager and the new lease explicitly says maintenance work isn’t covered unless it’s about basic habitability. When they ask for your vote, remember that @CTDems killed the #CapTheRent bill in committee

More than 60% of very low income (LI) #CT #renters are severely cost burdened & more than 75% of LI are cost burdened. Tell me again why we need more commissions and data to prove we have a #HousingCrisis? #CapTheRent @NLIHC nlihc.org/gap/state/ct

My brain can’t wrap around the fact that the #housing committee slashed the #CapTheRent bill and initiating a task force to evaluate the issues instead. So, here’s a video of some dope #artworks by #WaterburyCt students. Let’s applaud these amazing youth - our future leaders.
Renters need relief from rising rent now, not a task force to study an issue we have ample evidence on from the 200 jurisdictions with rent stabilization (& have engaged many of these experts through the #captherent campaign). Incredibly disappointing choice by @CTDems.

#CapTheRent Thanks for your excellent reporting, as always, @jacquelinerabe!
If you’re in #WaterburyCt, start with Rep. Butler. Remind him that more than 50% of his constituents are renters. If he’s not supporting their stability, what is he doing/who is he supporting? #CT #CapTheRent
How could you consider voting against a bill that will crucially impact the housing situations for many of your constituents? 🤔 It’s a qu folks should ask their state reps who are considering a vote against #CapTheRent. #CT @ConnecticutDSA @ctfairhousing
