@AshleySchapitl Granville's was so key to the H Street renaissance. Before GM's, if you wanted dinner w/ table service, your options were Naby's Island (which was delicious but low on ambience) or The Argonaut (which was more of a tavern with bar food than a restaurant). What a kick in the gut

@JachnunEmpire I've been to the Vineyard ~35 times, which makes me confident that Norm has never been there even once if he thinks the island is a source of US immigrants to Israel.

@PatomUng @burgessev GOP polling firm, so take that for what it's worth. No idea about this specific firm's track record, but in general, it's difficult to comment on any poll when we don't get to see the methodology.

@MLS_AfterDark I made the mistake of a friendly wager with a colleague in our Atlanta office before our last meeting. Bad juju if I try this again...

If you're eager for a world in which Kfir Bibas and Hind Rajab were likelier to meet on a playground than in the afterlife, I can't recommend avoiding social media highly enough today.

@Boyonthetrain51 @alexanderlyons3 @MattZeitlin My recollection is that we had a ton a bad polls for Democrats in 2022 and a few Dem operatives like @tbonier and @SimonWDC made a detailed case for how the polls were wrong. I dismissed it as pure cope, but they were right and I was wrong.

@alexanderlyons3 @MattZeitlin Increased difficulty in getting a representative sample. If you want a confidence interval of 95% and a MoE under 5%, you need to reach an even greater universe of voters than ever before. When was the last time you answered a call from a number you don’t recognize?

@thealecb @ChazNuttycombe Sure, but a lot changes over time. In 1996, Bill Clinton won Lewis County, WV by more than 9%. Twelve years later, Barack Obama lost that same county 66-32%.

In a week where leftists have unleashed semi-lucid hate toward Zohran Mamdani, Abdul El-Sayed, and now Mehdi Hassan for failing their purity test horseshit, it’s abundantly clear why the @SarahLongwell25 crowd gets so much more credit from normie Dems. x.com/fullslack_/sta…

The Bulwark is being boosted by the Dem establishment & media in an attempt to shift the Dem voter base toward the right during a time where they see the rapid rise in the public's positive perception of socialism. Don't fall for it. Reject these Never Trump Republicans.

@JHWeissmann I've been shouting this for years. Without a large increase, the personal cost of serving will lead to a Congress where everyone is either independently wealthy, inclined toward graft, or otherwise unfit for office. The optics are terrible for it, though.

This is a gut punch. Dukem and the lamentably long gone Etete did a lot of the heavy lifting in putting DC's Ethiopian restaurant scene on the map.

@brent858 The reactions to Mamdani's plan have been quite illuminating. Mostly from the mask coming off from the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Leftism who hate liberals more than conservatives, but the few reactions I've seen from Jewish institutions have also been very disappointing

@JHWeissmann Tourism isn't bad--DC has some built in advantages there that the vast majority of cities would kill for, but it's hard to assume that it can do the heavy lifting here. The disincentives for businesses to open and operate in DC are, of course, a big impediment to any plan

@edit_susan @Rhodesdale1 @CharlieSlowes That doesn't work if you live in-market. One of the seemingly unintended consequences of the streaming era is that it is way easier to enjoy your teams if you don't live in their broadcast territory.

@TheRiddlerSaySo @Sv13therealone @TheHerdBros Less pissed than concerned. Like, we shouldn't break a sweat against the competition we've faced thus far and yet, to your point, are struggling to put those teams away early, which in turn makes it harder to move into conferences with more robust competition.
