To every so-called journalist, commentator, and influencer trying to turn the Karmelo Anthony case into a racial spectacle: YOU are the problem. A young man, Austin Metcalf, lost his life. A family is living every day with a loss that can never be replaced. Yet instead of focusing on the facts, the truth, and the pursuit of justice, too many people are exploiting this tragedy to inflame racial tensions, generate outrage, score political points, and get clicks on their social media.... Thank you, Cindi Castilla, President of Texas Eagle Forum, for stepping forward today to defend the integrity of the Legislative Priorities process. After members of the Legislative Priorities Committee walked to the Rules Committee in an effort to testify against the Rule 32(c) amendment, Cindi was eventually given the opportunity to respectfully address the committee and ask them to reconsider. The rule change removes the Legislative Priorities Committee’s ability to craft language for legislative priorities and instead restricts each priority to a single existing platform plank. That may sound procedural, but in practice it would severely limit the grassroots’ ability to build comprehensive policy objectives around the issues delegates care most about. Cindi has served on Platform Committee during past sessions and understands firsthand how important it is that the grassroots retain the ability to craft comprehensive legislative priorities that actually solve problems and lead to meaningful conservative victories. Her testimony was respectful, thoughtful, and grounded in experience. The Rules Committee will listen to testimony on Rule 32c tomorrow. There is likely to be a motion to reconsider. Please testify if you can. Get in touch with your committee rep and let them know you want them to reconsider the amendment and to vote NO on the amendment.

No Lucy tonight. I'm sorry for taking you all on a roller coaster ride today. I really thought there was no way she'd still be locked up at this point. I was certain I would have happy news to share today. I was wrong. I got an email from my attorney telling me that the DA has in fact submitted the signed order to the judge, so what we are looking at is not malice, but bureaucratic lethargy, which is actually a much more pernicious problem in America, because it is so prevalent and accepted as the way things have to be done. It isn't. Lucy will come home though. For now, I'm going to focus on Snuggles. #SaveSnuggles

This was supposed to be Lucy's first weekend back home in seven weeks. That did not happen. Whether it is because of bureaucratic torpidity or those with the power to release her giving the knife one last twist, she is still in a cell. Prayers for good news tomorrow. #SaveLucy
