This is false
@gradypb Taken in absolute value, it may be false. But aren’t the odds way lower?
I have to partially agree. Some of the smartest VCs I’ve spoken to in the seed we are raising are associates. Some ppl are just born investors. But the vast majority of associates I’ve spoken with are a bit sub par, some really bad at their job, and it feels weird trying to educate them while pitching. Not time well spent imo. Haven’t spoken to a parter and felt that way.

@gradypb One of my solid exits was funded by an “associate” who turned out to be an MVP - even better than all investors and board members combined. He is my best friend now.
@gradypb Have raised from 2-3 funds in previous rounds which started with associate screens. Definitely false.
