1/ "Energy" Recently on inpatient rounds at Grady Her: "You know what, Dr. Manning?" Me: "What's that?" Her: "You got some good energy." I paused and took that in for a moment. Me: "That's a kind thing to say to a doctor you just met today." *laughter*
2/ Her: "Like, it don't take long to figure it out, doc. Like, people come in your room and you can feel it immediately. 'Specially when you sick a lot." Me: "You think?" Her: "No, I don't think. I KNOW." And she was dead serious. I sat down in the bedside chair. And listened.
3/ Her: "You know? Most people got neutral energy. Nothing one way or the other, you know? But some folks? Some got really bad energy and some got really good energy. You feel me?" Me: *squinting* "I think so. But like. . .what does that even mean to have 'good' or 'bad' energy?"
