If they get to work this is actually a big deal. The “eco-civilization” projects China does always fly under the radar because they don’t fit the usual sexy click bait China narratives but imo they’re some of the most important endeavors China is attempting to realize.

@gonglei89 Indeed very big deal. There's tons of data from all sorts of different sources. If you can integrate them in a coherent way, process them e.g. with AI, you get a very powerful tool and extract a lot of info and knowledge that scattered data points would never give.

@gonglei89 I hope they put one at the beaver complexes of Inner Mongolia. A pair of Chinese researchers in Wisconsin actually discovered a lot of potential for flooding mitigation relating to beaver ecosystems, in addition to the obvious fire and aquifer benefits
