I'm very conflicted with covering "look we did a nice thing" stories, such as BA with Avios and NHS staff. I'm all for ALL nice things, and there should be more of them, I just sometimes feel like it's cheap to get coverage for doing things we should be doing anyway. Anyone?
I could've run too close to someone while out for my jog today, but didn't and then bought someone a coffee, in case anyone wants to cover....
@godsavethepoint Surely @British_Airways could give the Avios rather than have account holders donate them?
@godsavethepoint Everybody loves the anonymous donor...
@godsavethepoint Gift my avios? Errrrr no thanks!
@godsavethepoint As with Flying Start, BA are making an ostentatious virtue out of what is in reality their customers money and their staff's volunteered time... the corporate contribution is minimal
@godsavethepoint I agree, they’ve haven’t exactly had great press recently with the way they’ve been treating their staff either
@godsavethepoint The fact that both AA and QR are giving away flights for free makes BA seem very cheap by getting their customers to pay for flights for NHS staff. Then theres the usage: Will they struggle to find availability and have to pay £100's in taxes like the rest of us?
@godsavethepoint Always makes me think of this XKCD cartoon. I wonder if they get positive PR they'll do it more often? Or if they get negative PR or no PR they'll just stop? xkcd.com/871/
