gather round children and let me tell you of a time long ago, lost to the fog of memory now, when mtv was inexplicably a powerhouse of experimental adult animation
early/mid 90’s MTV was some of the best content ever broadcast on american television. even the commercial breaks had things like jay and silent bob doing stuff. It had this atmosphere of *let’s make some cool shit*
I only have two things to promote 1. companies need to return to taking risks and funding outsider animation again. big, high-visibility platforms for weird things are genuinely important. 2. A.I. could never construct anything as intentionally esoteric as these shows
@girldrawsghosts AI will eventually construct intentionally esoteric stuff like this. It’s going to take a bit of time but it’s absolutely inevitable. 10 years or less. I’ll be happy to publicly eat my words if that doesn’t happen.
@girldrawsghosts Fish heads fish heads Eat them up yum
@girldrawsghosts @the_moviebob People🤝Corporations Needing to support independent art much more than they currently do.
@girldrawsghosts Don't even miss the music. I miss these. That was glorious times
@girldrawsghosts Honestly would be nice to find the next Ralph Bakshi and others like him for this current generation and make good underground animation once again.
@girldrawsghosts Peter Chung is pretty gung ho on AI.
@girldrawsghosts well, the head maybe, but by accident and not as good
@girldrawsghosts Nickelodeon ran a an animated film festival, that while not as out there as Liquid TV, was a fantastic showcase for creators in the 2000s. I bought the 2006 season, but it’s long since disappeared from streaming stores.
