Hi mutuals, I’m re-introducing myself on the timeline. I’m Funmito and I run a blog where I interview married people and share their stories on what makes marriages work. This is something I’ve been working on since last year and really enjoy doing it. The stories aren’t fake. Neither do I make them up. One thing Megan said caught my attention. They have empathy for each other. One person knows what it's like to work all day and go home to unwind. The other knows what it's like to be with the kids all day and count every minute till their partner gets home. Because Megan and her husband have experienced both roles, they no longer minimize what the other person does. They understand that each role comes with its own pressure. So, they appreciate each other's contributions and continue to work as a team. That's what marriage is about. It's teamwork, not a "my job is harder than yours" situation. Megan's marriage started in the traditional way, where the man provides, and the woman runs the home. But things have changed in the last five years. Her husband left his job and manages the home. He handles meal planning, does grocery shopping, cooks, and maintains the home. As for her, her business grew, and she became the breadwinner. So far, they've loved the journey.
