If you even slightly entertain the thought of failure, you give your mind a chance to start noticing reasons to fail. But if the only option on your mind is to win, then the world seems to conspire in your favor, because your mind will notice opportunities it wouldn't have before. Become delusionally optimistic, not because it's realistic, but because it's effective. It drastically increases your chances of success.

Game theory explains why working harder inside a broken system is the worst response to that system. Because a system is never truly broken. It's just producing exactly the outcomes its own incentive structures were designed to produce, whether intentional or not. Working harder inside this system increases your output in the payoff matrix, but it simply won't change the actual structure of the system's matrix. Thus, the correct response is not more effort. Instead, you must aim to identify whose interests the current structure serves and position yourself in favor of those interests rather than against them. Change the game, or play the game that is actually being played. Either way, you must stop optimizing for the game you wish it to be and start acting realistically.

Reality Denied Elon Musk’s interview with The Economist exposed a political absurdity: basic common sense now sounds radical because the elite progressive left has spent years treating reality as a nuisance rather than a guide. Secure borders, safe streets, fiscal restraint, and institutional competence are not fringe positions. They are the minimum requirements of a serious society. That is why the debate has become so warped. Too much of the progressive left now operates in a post-factual universe, where ideology is treated as evidence and evidence is treated as negotiable. In that environment, ordinary standards of order and accountability are recast as oppression, while failure is excused with slogans. The same argument would be celebrated as wisdom if Obama made it and denounced as extremism when Trump does. The result is a public discourse detached from consequences. If you point out that uncontrolled migration strains public services, that crime affects working families first, or that governments cannot borrow and spend forever, you are no longer making a practical argument. You are accused of hostility, ignorance, or worse. Musk’s real value in this conversation is not that he is universally right. Which he is. It is that he forces the confrontation between reality and rhetoric. And once that confrontation happens, the weakness of the left’s worldview becomes obvious: it can explain feelings, but it cannot reliably explain facts. The middle of the political spectrum has not become more extreme. The left has simply moved so far from reality that common sense now looks like rebellion.

Toujours le même schéma : le moment où la machine semble invincible est aussi celui où ses fondations sont déjà pourries. La puissance apparente masque la rigidité. Les institutions deviennent trop lourdes, trop sûres d’elles, trop occupées à se protéger plutôt qu’à s’adapter. On multiplie les règles, les rituels, les indulgences. On confond taille et force. On prend le contrôle pour de la légitimité. Ce n’est presque jamais un ennemi extérieur qui porte le coup fatal. C’est l’intérieur qui lâche. La corruption des signaux. L’incapacité à entendre les feedbacks. L’arrogance qui transforme chaque critique en hérésie. Aujourd’hui on voit le même pattern dans plein d’endroits : États qui croulent sous leur propre poids administratif, entreprises géantes qui inventent des process pour ralentir l’innovation, idéologies qui se croient éternelles parce qu’elles dominent encore le discours. La bonne nouvelle, c’est que la chute d’un empire n’est jamais la fin de l’histoire. C’est souvent le début d’autre chose. Les bâtisseurs n’attendent pas la permission. Ils construisent dans les interstices, pendant que les anciens centres de pouvoir s’effondrent sous leur propre logique. Le 21e siècle n’appartiendra pas à ceux qui défendent les ruines. Il appartiendra à ceux qui posent les prochaines fondations.

Gen Z entrepreneurship increasingly looks like running a portfolio of asymmetric coups rather than betting everything on one serious, long-term project. One month it’s an AI wrapper. Then a TikTok Shop product, a viral food trend, or buying scarce inventory during a shortage and renting it back at triple the price. In Europe you can also trade the state: find the latest subsidy, regulation or public failure and put yourself in the middle. Build the website over a weekend, extract as much as possible while the window is open, then abandon it as soon as the trade stops working. It’s basically entrepreneurial day trading. Low commitment, limited downside, permanent optionality and a small chance one bet makes you rich. And honestly, it’s rational. Why spend ten years committing to one difficult company when AI lets you place ten cheap bets per year and one winning bet can make you rich?

Great article! Though you forgot to mention the most interesting part. The staking yield will not just be reduced but actually turn negative beyond a point. You will lose money when staking ETH, which is great because it will incentivise people to just hold ETH instead of holding derivatives like stETH. This is exactly the kind of incentive we need for the long-term security of Ethereum. 🙌
