6/ The article on X, with the three decisions and the cost: x.com/force_eth/stat… If you run a card server: what should the bot answer next? Set completion? "Cheapest playable copy"? Slabs? I'll build the most-asked one.

"What's this worth?" A Discord /price bot that answers with Cardmarket EUR per print language and TCGplayer USD, each with its date, in 70 lines of TypeScript. What should it answer next? x.com/i/article/2103…

5/ Cost: 3 credits per answer, 1 per autocomplete keystroke. A quiet server is about 300 a day. Autocomplete is what adds up; the article says how to debounce and cache it.

1/ Every card server has the same message every few minutes: "what's this worth?" I wrote a Discord bot that answers with the European AND the American figure, each with its date, in one file of 70 lines. Here is what one answer looks like. 🧵

6/ I wrote the whole thing up as an article here on X, including the two times I got it wrong: a cache rule that made 200k rows serve zero quotes, and an EU-only minimum served as the global one, caught by a customer this week. Would you publish your index formula, or keep it a black box? I did. Tell me if that was naive. x.com/force_eth/stat…

A price is a row, not a number. How my API keeps EUR and USD apart, how the one index it computes is built, and the two times I got it wrong. x.com/i/article/2103…

5/ The one number I do compute is an index: a median in EUR across the sources I am allowed to redistribute, raw copies only, series seen in the last 30 days, USD converted at the ECB reference rate. It exists to sort a list, not to be quoted. When nothing sits behind it, it is null.

1/ A card from the 30th Celebration set, out on 16 September: Lugia, the Crystal one from Aquapolis, reprinted in the Classic Collection. One card. Here is what "its price" looks like when you stop pretending it is one number. 🧵

First post on the blog: a migration checklist for anyone whose card app reads from the catalogue API that stops serving on 1 March 2027. Field by field: IDs, pagination, prices as rows with a source and a date, images, incremental sync, and what a month of calls actually costs. I wrote it because one of last week's signups hit eight 404s in a row on old-style card IDs from a Cloudflare Worker and left. That is a checklist item now, not a support ticket. pokemontcgapi.com/blog/migration…

6/ I'll post every week what happened, what broke and what I decided. Follow along if you build collector tools, APIs, or anything on Postgres with a lot of price rows. pokemontcgapi.com/?utm_source=x&…

5/ What I'm unsure about, and where I'd like your opinion: - credit-based pricing (1 for catalogue, 2 for prices) or plain request counts? - a free tier for hobby projects, now that the API most of them use closes on 1 March 2027? - for the app: is "scan a card with the phone camera" a must-have or a demo feature?

1/ I'm building two things in public and I'd like your advice on both. rarebit.app: a card-collection app for the European market (web + mobile). pokemontcgapi.com: the data API that grew out of its backend. 🧵
